Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: 200 MP sensor

The Galaxy S23 Ultra will not feature the new 200 MP ISOCELL HP3. (Source: Technizo_Concept)
Contrary to previous reports, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will not be equipped with Samsung's new 200 MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor. That, however, does not mean the next-gen flagship could not arrive with an entirely different 200 MP CMOS sensor.
Ricci Rox, 06/23/2022

Android ARM Galaxy S Leaks / Rumors Smartphone Camera
Hours ago, Samsung debuted its second 200 MP sensor, the ISOCELL HP3. Earlier rumors claimed the HP3 could make its way into the Galaxy S23 Ultra as a replacement for the 108 MP HM3 but it now appears those rumors were off the mark.

According to Ice Universe, Samsung will not equip the Galaxy S23 Ultra with the new 200 MP ISOCELL HP3 after all. A quick look at the HP3's spec sheet provides the reason: the new 200 MP sensor is not designed for flagship use. For one, it's a 1/1.4-inch sensor, making it smaller than the 1/1.33-inch HM3 on the S22 Ultra. The 200 MP HP3 features 0.56 μm native pixels, versus the HM3's 0.8 μm pixels, and even after 16-in-1 binning on the HP3, the HM3 remains ahead at 2.4 μm, versus the new sensor's 2.24 μm.

While the ISOCELL HP3 will not be used on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, that doesn't rule out the possibility of another 200 MP sensor. The 200 MP ISOCELL HP1, for example, is a high-end sensor that outperforms the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 108 camera on paper. The HP1 will make its debut on Motorola's upcoming flagship, however, and is also unlikely to be seen on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Instead, Samsung could release yet another 200 MP sensor, perhaps based on the HP1—in a relationship similar to the Mi Note 10's HMX and the S20 Ultra's HM1.

Ransomware Attack How To Safe

All about ransomware attacks

Ransomware has been in the news quite a bit in 2021. You may have heard stories of attacks on large companies, organizations, or government agencies, or perhaps you as an individual have experienced a ransomware attack on your own device. It’s a significant problem and a scary prospect to have all of your files and data held hostage until you pay up. If you want to know more about this threat, read on to learn about ransomware’s different forms, how you get it, where it comes from, who it targets, and ultimately, what you can do to protect against it.

What is ransomware? Ransomware definition

Ransom malware, or ransomware, is a type of malware that prevents users from accessing their system or personal files and demands ransom payment in order to regain access. The earliest variants of ransomware were developed in the late 1980s, and payment was to be sent via snail mail. Today, ransomware authors order that payment be sent via cryptocurrency or credit card, and attackers target individuals, businesses, and organizations of all kinds. Some ransomware authors sell the service to other cybercriminals, which is known as Ransomware-as-a-Service or RaaS.

How do I get ransomware?

There are several different ways that ransomware can infect your computer. One of the most common methods today is through malicious spam, or malspam, which is unsolicited email that is used to deliver malware. The email might include booby-trapped attachments, such as PDFs or Word documents. It might also contain links to malicious websites.

Malspam uses social engineering in order to trick people into opening attachments or clicking on links by appearing as legitimate—whether that’s by seeming to be from a trusted institution or a friend. Cybercriminals use social engineering in other types of ransomware attacks, such as posing as the FBI in order to scare users into paying them a sum of money to unlock their files.

Another popular infection method, which reached its peak in 2016, is malvertising. Malvertising, or malicious advertising, is the use of online advertising to distribute malware with little to no user interaction required. While browsing the web, even legitimate sites, users can be directed to criminal servers without ever clicking on an ad. These servers catalog details about victim computers and their locations, and then select the malware best suited to deliver. Often, that malware is ransomware.

Malvertising often uses an infected iframe, or invisible webpage element, to do its work. The iframe redirects to an exploit landing page, and malicious code attacks the system from the landing page via exploit kit. All this happens without the user’s knowledge, which is why it’s often referred to as a drive-by-download.

Types of ransomware

There are three main types of ransomware, ranging in severity from mildly off-putting to Cuban Missile Crisis dangerous. They are as follows:

Scareware

Scareware, as it turns out, is not that scary. It includes rogue security software and tech support scams. You might receive a pop-up message claiming that malware was discovered and the only way to get rid of it is to pay up. If you do nothing, you’ll likely continue to be bombarded with pop-ups, but your files are essentially safe.

A legitimate cybersecurity software program would not solicit customers in this way. If you don’t already have this company’s software on your computer, then they would not be monitoring you for ransomware infection. If you do have security software, you wouldn’t need to pay to have the infection removed—you’ve already paid for the software to do that very job.

Screen lockers

Upgrade to terror alert orange for these guys. When lock-screen ransomware gets on your computer, it means you’re frozen out of your PC entirely. Upon starting up your computer, a full-size window will appear, often accompanied by an official-looking FBI or US Department of Justice seal saying illegal activity has been detected on your computer and you must pay a fine. However, the FBI would not freeze you out of your computer or demand payment for illegal activity. If they suspected you of piracy, child pornography, or other cybercrimes, they would go through the appropriate legal channels.

Encrypting ransomware

This is the truly nasty stuff. These are the guys who snatch up your files and encrypt them, demanding payment in order to decrypt and redeliver. The reason why this type of ransomware is so dangerous is because once cybercriminals get ahold of your files, no security software or system restore can return them to you. Unless you pay the ransom—for the most part, they’re gone. And even if you do pay up, there’s no guarantee the cybercriminals will give you those files back.

10 Signs that your Phone has Spyware or Hacked

10 Signs that your Phone has Spyware or Hacked

Pegasus row has once again brought mobile spying fears to the fore. While ordinary netizens need not fear spying tools like Pegasus, there are other hacking and spying software and apps they need to be cautious of. While some of these apps try to steal financial information in your phone, some others try to seek complete control over the phone including photo gallery, calls, messages and more. These spying apps and tools by their very nature hide themselves inside the devices and cannot be easily found, there are signs that you can look for which tell you that you may be spied upon or your phone has been hacked.

1. Phone's battery is draining faster than usual

If your phone's battery is draining faster than usual, malware and fraudulent apps may be using malicious code that tends to drain a lot of power. However, before you jump to conclusion, check the number of apps running in the background. Too many apps running in the background also eat battery. So, first close them and then monitor.

2. See apps you didn't download

You notice apps on your smartphone that you don’t recognize or are sure you didn't download. This could be the work of a hacker or spyware.

3. Your phone has become slow

Your smartphone has suddenly become slow. It acts sluggish and uses way more resources and battery power. There may be stealth malware in the background.

4. Mobile data usage sees a spike

Your data usage has suddenly gone up. It is higher than normal. Malicious apps or software might be consuming your mobile data in the background as they track what your activities are.

5. Phone acting strangely

Your smartphone is acting weird. Apps crash unexpectedly or fail to load. Many sites look different than they usually do. This may be another telltale sign.

6. Strange pop-ups everywhere

You are noticing lots of pop-ups appearing on your screen this may be due to adware, a type of malicious software that inundates your device with ads. Never click on such links.

7. Notice photos and videos in your gallery that you don’t remember taking

You see photos and videos in your photo gallery that you don't remember taking. Be on the guard, as it's a sign that someone may have control over your camera.

8. Flash lighting on

The flash lighting goes on even when you are not using your phone is another sign to look out for. This may be because someone is remotely controlling your device.

9. Your phone gets hot

Phones can heat up during prolonged periods of use, like while gaming for hours, running navigation apps etc. However, if your phone is getting very hot even when you don't use it, there are good chances that hackers are at work

10. See log of texts or calls not made by you

You notice text or calls in your log that were not sent or made by you. See a lot of gibberish and unusual characters there. This is another likely sign.

How to Delete or Deactivate Your Instagram Account 2021

How to Delete or Deactivate Your Instagram Account 2021

You can only deactivate or delete Instagram account from a desktop or mobile browser, not the official App

  • Users can delete/ deactive Instagram accounts permanently
  • However, deactivated Instagram account can be revived
  • Permanently deleted Instagram accounts will not have profile data, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers. If, like many internet users, you wonder every now and then how to delete or deactivate your Instagram account because you are tired of the app or think it's a distraction, then we have all the information you need! In fact, there could be many reasons why you would want to deactivate or delete Instagram account. Just like Facebook and other social media platforms, Instagram also provides you with the option to deactivate or delete your account. Deactivating Instagram account will make the account stop working temporarily, while delete option will permanently remove your profile as well as photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers. You should delete Instagram account only if you've decided to move on from the social networking app completely — once the account is deleted there is no way of bringing it back!

    How to deactivate Instagram accounts

Follow steps below to deactivate Instagram accounts temporarily. Do note that this can only be done using a web browser as the Instagram app lacks the relevant support.

    • Go to https://www.instagram.com from a mobile browser or a desktop computer, and log in using the Instagram ID you wish to deactivate
    • Tap or click your profile icon from the top-right corner and then select 'Profile'
    • Select the 'Edit Profile' option from the following screen and scroll down until you see the 'Temporarily disable my account' option
    • After you've tapped on the disable button, Instagram will show you a page with a drop-down menu next to 'Why are you disabling your account?' You'll need to pick an option from the menu and then re-enter your password. The drop-down menu includes options such as Created a second account, Can't find people to follow, Concerned about my data, Just need a break, Privacy concerns, Too busy/ too distracting, and Want to remove something. You can also pick the Something else option if you don't want to specify your reason for temporary deactivation
    • Tap or click the 'Temporarily Disable Account' button to temporarily deactivate Instagram account
Once you've followed all the steps, you have successully deactivated Instagram account. You can reactivate it by simply logging back in with your credentials. Until the Instagram account has not been reactivated, your profile, photos, comments, and likes will be hidden from other users on the platform. Lastly, you will only be able to deactivate your Instagram account once a week.

        How to delete Instagram accounts

For a more permanent solution, you can delete your Instagram account as well as all the associated data. Again this can be done using a web browser, not the Instagram app. Follow the steps below:

        • To delete Instagram account, go to the Delete Your Account page on the desktop or mobile site and login
        • Select the options from the drop-down menu next to 'Why are you deleting your account?' The options are pretty much the same as the ones you get when you deactivate Instagram accounts, like Too many ads, Privacy concerns, Concerned about my data, Created a second account, Trouble getting started, Want to remove something, and Can't find people to follow.
        • Enter the password and hit that 'Permanently delete my account' option from the bottom of the screen

If you decide to delete Instagram account, all your photos, comments, likes, and followers on the app will be removed permanently. As stated above, with the delete Instagram account option, you can't recover your account. If you wish to save your photos and posts from the app before deleting the account, you can download a copy of your information. To do so, tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile --> Settings -->Access Data --> and View All.

So that's how you can temporarily deactivate or permanently delete Instagram accounts from the desktop or mobile site. We hope this step-by-step guide helps you get rid of the distractions the app is known for!

How to install Windows 11 Step by Step Guide

How to install Windows 11 Step by Step Guide

The Windows 11 Insider Preview is available now here's how to get it

Windows 11 is available now, if you're brave enough to try downloading the first preview build.  Microsoft just released it to everyone in the Windows Insiders program, giving you an opportunity to get an early look at the next generation of Windows — but only if you're willing to take the risk of installing an unfinished operating system.

If you are, a recent Windows blog post outlines how many of Windows 11's much-hyped new features — including a new Start menu, Taskbar and Notification Center, a redesigned File Explorer, and a new startup sound — are already present in this first preview build for Windows Insiders. However, it's far from feature-complete: the big integration of Microsoft Teams in chat, as well as Windows 11's Android apps and many design changes, aren't there yet. Plus, you're likely to encounter some bugs.

If you want a better sense of what to expect before diving into the Windows 11 Insider preview build, check out Microsoft's known issues list, which includes bugs like "the ‘Power mode’ setting does not show up on the Power & battery page, or when launching the Settings app, a brief green flash may appear.

How to download and install the Windows 11 Insider preview

Step 0: Make sure you're ready

Before you take the plunge of joining Microsoft's Windows Insider Program and downloading the Windows 11 preview build, you should make sure your PC is ready and that all your personal data is secure.

First, check that your system can support it. Here are the basic Windows 11 system requirements:

        • CPU: a 1 GHz or faster dual-core or higher processor on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip
        • Memory: 4 GB RAM
        • Storage: 64 GB
        • TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
        • Graphics card: DirectX 12 compatible graphics / WDDM 2.x
        • Display: A display 9 inches or larger, with a resolution of 720p or higher

Confused about what a TPM is? Well, you can see if your PC has a TPM and meets other system requirements with our guide.

Then make sure to back up your system to either an external storage drive or one of the best cloud backup services on the market: getting an early look at Windows 11 is pretty cool, but you don't want to lose all of your personal data if the preview build breaks bad on your machine.

          1. To get Windows 11 right now, you'll need to be in the Windows Insider Program, which can be joined via Microsoft's website.

        • 2. Alternatively, you can join the Insider Program via Windows 10 by clicking the Start Menu.

        • 3. Then click Settings.

        • 4. Then select Update & Security.

        • 5. Select Windows Insider Program from the left menu. If you haven't already agreed to send Microsoft all of your Windows diagnostic data, you'll need to do so before you'll be allowed to receive Windows 11 preview builds.

You'll know if you need to or not because Microsoft will prompt you to do so at this stage, and won't let you proceed until you enable "Optional diagnostic data" in the Diagnostic data section of the Diagnostics & feedback panel in your Settings menu.

Don't worry too much about trying to track it down: if you need to enable it to proceed, Microsoft will tell you and provide a link directly to the Diagnostics & feedback menu.

        • 7. Click Link an account.

        • 8.Select which Microsoft Account to link.

Don't have a Microsoft account? You can make one here.

        • 9. Select Dev Channel and hit Confirm.

          10. Follow the subsequent prompts and you'll be on your way to Windows 11!
